Herb butter is a real all-rounder in the kitchen! It adds flavor and luxury to bread, grilled meat, fish, or even vegetables. Making your own herb butter is simple and gives you the opportunity to fully adjust the flavors to your preference. With this basic recipe of about 150 grams, you'll put an irresistible, creamy herb butter on the table.
Ingredients
-
150 grams unsalted butter (at room temperature)
-
2 cloves of garlic (finely chopped or pressed)
-
2 tablespoons fresh parsley (finely chopped)
-
1 tablespoon chives (finely chopped)
-
1 teaspoon lemon juice
-
Pinch of salt
-
Optional: a pinch of paprika powder or chili for extra heat
Instructions
Preparation
Make sure the butter is soft so it’s easy to mix. You can do this by taking it out of the fridge well in advance or warming it briefly in the microwave (be careful not to melt it!).
Mix the ingredients
Put the butter in a bowl and add the garlic, parsley, chives, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt. Use a fork or hand mixer to mix everything well into a smooth, creamy herb butter.
Taste and adjust
Taste the herb butter and adjust the flavor. Add more salt, lemon juice, or extra herbs if desired.
Shape and chill
Scoop the herb butter onto a piece of baking paper or cling film. Roll it up tightly into a cylinder and twist the ends closed like a candy. Place it in the fridge to firm up (about 30–60 minutes).
Serving
Slice the herb butter into rounds and serve directly on fresh bread, with a grilled steak, fish, or vegetables.
Tips:
Want to vary it up? Try other herbs like dill, rosemary, or thyme, or add a splash of white wine for a refined taste.
Store the herb butter in the fridge for up to 1 week or freeze it for later use.
Enjoy your meal!
